Psychological factors seem to be left out in her analysis. Disaggregating the experiences of female saints attempts to undo this process of lumping together what were actually quite disparate experiences. Therefore, a complex compromise between both ends of the spectrum on the debate over whether medieval saints were anorectics or not seems to be the best conclusion intellectually because it does not subject the saints to a single categorization in either extreme.
